Howdy folks,, Just a few pics from last few mornings here at the house. Deersie feeding time showing about half our herd that comes in about 6:30 every morning. Just in case you thought these were big deer. They are not, as my humongous self in the pics illustrates. Little boogers not even up to my waist. Note, fancy cowboy boots even with shorts. Weird eccentric boot whore, I know *L*. Unfortunately folks around these parts shoot almost all small predators because they're fraidy cats about rabies. As a result we get a lot of orphaned baby critters like this little coon. Last evening it were coonappoloza round here with no less that seven of these cute little boogers in the yard. Some follow me around like puppies. This little guy is fascinated with my wife's native grass pot.

I have to concentrate to keep tame'ish wildlife from getting scared off. I cannot raise mice. I'm too hyper and they fail to thrive with perfect care.
I like they dont fear you. You must have a mellow vibe about you. Nice pics Mel, thanks!

For some reason Scott, critters love me. I'll go out at night, turn around and have a train of baby skunks milling around my feet. Neighbor's sheep dogs, Greater Pyrenees, that are huge, savage monsters that live with the sheep, dive under the fence and come running just to love on me. I've got two or three big buck deer that wait at the gate for me every morning for their head scratch. I absolutely love animals of almost any shape and form except domestic cats. They love me but I am not a cat person.
Oh and I forgot monkeys. I hate monkeys, mimes and clowns. National clown convention is coming to Kerrville this year so I'll have to avoid town for a few days *L*......Mel

Nice photos of them deersie's and the bandit. There has been a skunk outbreak around me. I go right up to them and they act like they aren't afraid or anything. If I see them out Ill go and watch them. Never once did they act like they wanted to spray. The babies are quite comical.

Looks like you have a good place for a deer herd. If you want a few more, come on down and charm some of the gluttons that are driving me crazy. We have a small daylily growing operation, and it is a never-ending task to keep them out of the gardens. Some of them got into the largest garden a couple of seasons ago, and in one night, ate all the flowers, buds and seed pods off of about a thousand plants. Now there's an 8ft tall poly fence around all the gardens, with a 4ft metal fence anchored along the bottom (when they had trouble jumping over, the does started going under). When we first started, the deer had a lot of area in the river bottoms and weren't a problem But, several new subdivisions have sprung up over the years in their old stomping grounds, and some of the new homeowners started feeding 'those cute things'. Now they roam the neighborhoods every night looking for a free meal. They are beautiful creatures, just NIMBY.

keneflick, *L* No thanks! We do deer census this month so I don't know this years count yet but we range between 800-1200 whitetail, 300-400 blackbuck and maybe 25 Mouflon ( we've recently trapped 80 of them for sale) We have to have an eight foot steel deer fence around the yard or we'd have bare dirt *L*.....Mel

Your story reminds me of my Mom. She was a Dr. Doolittle, for sure. When she was young she rescued a litter of skunks. Momma skunk was dead in the road and the kits were trapped in a lobster pot. She brought them home and they lived as pets. They never sprayed, but hated my grandmother. They would face her off, threatening her with their tails in the air and stomping their little feet. Nanny finally made her get rid of them. She had all kinds of animals. She had a crow type bird that hung out at the wharfs and picked up a real colorful vocabulary. He hated Nanny, too. When she hung up clothes, he would sit on the line and pluck off the pins as she hung them. LOL! My Nanny was a colorful old lady. They named the street she lived on after her- Jessie's Way.
Anyway... great pix- didn't mean to hijack.
