Howdy All! I picked this sparkly up out by the Cardinal Stadium Its not much. Just a garden rock. But the sparkly really caught my eye in the blazing sun I suppose its full of mica Maybe some can educate me on it? Anyway thanks for looking And keepon grinding Ed

I agree with schist, if you see those often check them for garnets. I'm not sure if that's a common feature in your area but around here if there's schist there's garnets. It won't be gem quality stuff but still neat none the less. It's the same quality garnet used as abrasives in sandpaper and industrial drill bits

I have a hard time resisting sparkles even though I know most don't tumble all that well. I have shelves of different colors... that's a nice mix of crystals Ed. I would have picked it up too.

yeah, looks like chlorite schist. I have a hunk here FULL of crystals. Anybody know how to dissolve the chlorite away and leave the crystals?
