This is probably as good of a place as any to ask.
I do a local craigslist search most days using lapidary as my search word.
I don't have the time nor desire to search with 10 different words, but it would be nice to hear some different search options that have worked well for you.
What are some of the search words you use when looking for mineral specimens and lapidary items?

What are some of the search words you use when looking for mineral specimens and lapidary items? I snagged a 6" star diamond trim saw with motor by using "diamond saw" as my search. He had it listed as a "diamond blade tile saw" and nothing in his listing said anything about lapidary. he had it listed for $25. I cleaned it up and added a blade guard and new base board then sold it on craigslist again for $125 within a week. Chuck

I also search "lapidary" but i'll also use "rock saw", "slab saw", "faceting machine", "rock tumbler", "rock polisher", "cabbing machine".

I occasionally search on agate. Unfortunately there is an Agate Street in town, so a lot of false hits.

In yard sales I'd use rocks (you get hits on aquarium rocks and landscape rocks but you also hit on folks selling granpa's favorite rocks. In tools, I use rock (as in rock saw). If you search on saw, you get too many hits. I might sometimes use grinder, but with varied results. Tom

If I wasn't making a big purchase tomorrow I would make the trip. Only 3 hours for me and I could use another 12" saw. Oh well. Tomorrow I will have something to post!
