A little something I cabbed up in recent days. I dont mind experimenting with shapes, and tried something different with this stone. Forgot how to use the site for uploading pics, so going to just give it my best shot. If it dont work, I'll try again. Thanks.

I prefer freeform shapes, or circles. Nice job! Beautiful stone!

Sorta like that, except I visioned it to be turned with the large flat facet cut end for bottom, and I also flattened the top. Close enough. Thank you for showing me that stencil.

I use templates a lot of the time because they help lay out scenes on a slab. Once you draw the lines on the slab and trim it. you can still do whatever you like when you cut the cab; orientation, add a c curve to the flat side, make the tip flatter or pointier.
Very nice cab. I like the material and the shape.

Thanks. It was a trial cab, havent worked with the material ever before and learned a few things on the polish, plus where the pitting seems to be most prominent. The next ones should come off nicer.

Those are really nice Lee. That should make a killer pendant and earring set. I like that shape too and have used it a lot. This image shows (L-R) palm root, "loaf" lapis/optical quartz and Australian variscite. The lapis looks pretty authentic but this was a "proof of concept" piece made for a test. I ran across a piece of Indian peach moonstone that came close to matching a moonstone face carving I'd bought. It stuck me the color's close enough to make an articulated pendant...some day, when I get around to it LOL. This is one of the first tongue pieces I cut and made into jewelry. My wife glommed onto it immediately and after shooting today's pictures I noticed it's time to buff the metal nice and shiny again.

Those are all great looking cabs guys or gals! What is in the top half of the malachite one your wife scooped?
