I don’t normally buy unlabelled specimens, but this one was quite affordable, probably because they lost the label. I took a chance that I would be able to figure it out, but the more I examined it, the more doubt I had. This is one of those rocks that has a whole lot of beauty when viewed under a digital microscope that reveals some of the micro-crystals that are hiding in the vugs. I’ve taken my best guess based on comparing to a few known specimens and photos on the internet. Hopefully someone can confirm an ID, or make some suggestions. The overall specimen is crusty blue and green crystals with some clear crystals on what appears to be a limonite matrix. First guess is that it is from Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico, or a nearby vicinity. I believe the clear crystals are Hemimorphite which forms in bladed rosettes and little ball-like spheres. I believe the blue crystals are Rosasite which forms as little spheres and as a crust. I believe the green crystals are Mimetite which forms as little spheres and as a crust. Some areas have a black metallic veneer that looks a little like Goethite with a botryoidal appearance. Some areas have a reddish brown colour which may be a colour variation of Mimetite. Some areas have an apple green colour which may be another colour variation of Mimetite. Some areas have a light blue colour with needle-like crystals that have the appearance of sea anemones. I have no idea what this may be. There’s a lot going on in this specimen. Opinions (ID’s) are welcomed and appreciated. Let me know what you think. Darryl.

My first guess with the blues and greens would be chrysocolla which is often formed as a crust, and malachite or similar pseudo or hemimorph which would fit the limonite matrix however I know nothing about rosasite so it very well could be that. Whatever it is, it's beautiful! Thanks for sharing and good luck with the id

That's a beauty, Darryl!!
my guesses: rosasite, mimetite (yellow), smithsonite or mimetite (green), maybe calcite rosettes, with maybe hemimorphite sprays?? mimetite (brown), botryoidal goethite?? edited to add - I may be seeing things, ahem, but the 'sprays' look like they have a pale blue color underneath them? Maybe aurichalcite?
Hope someone can give their expertise.
