that top picture make me think where do they all come from? did those rocks migrate out of the ground or were they alluvial ? where is this area at? Thanks Ed

You know @mr.mohs I wondered the same thing. My theory is there was a big gumball type thing and it over filled in turn exploded all over. With the variety of stones that were there it has me baffled. It's in southwest Wyoming.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!.... that first photo is mind blowing. I would develop a permanent stoop in my back if I lived in that area.. how in heaven's name do you keep track of what sections you have picked over and what remains to be picked? Of course if it is like the beach, when you walk one way, certain material stands out, and when you go back the other way, more stuff seems to jump out in the same places you just went over. mind blowing photo, yes it is...

Darn ! I thought the gumball machine was an excellent idea but to many children would eat the rocks that would be a bad thing back to the rocks field

Amazing- it's like they are all laid out for you ready to be picked up. How do you know what's worthwhile to pick up? Do you squirt with water or pick it up and hope for the best?

That's the thing to. In these parts we lick the rocks lol, but wow do the eyes get sore trying to find the keepers. Take a few steps, focus and really look for the winners. Some of the prettiest are the ugliest found so no real technique but luck and patience. I had to quit my hunt yesterday, from the wind of course and my eyes just couldn't focus anymore.

Trying to stay in a straight line and as hard as it may be, look up from time to time let's just say that this guys back hurts when he's not stooped over looking at rocks (at work pfffft) lol...
