yes, a tube agate formation. Do a face polish or shallow cut on the base (left side in pic) and it should show some nice banding.

I dug out a couple pics of one in case your interested on how it may look inside and a side shot. I found this one in BC. Beautiful specimens, I ended up collecting a purple with druzy and a raspberry colored one inside, from ebay.

Really neat stuff. Looks like "geyser agate", or "geyser opal" if it fluoresces under SW ultraviolet light.

An article about Indonesian tubes created by coating Bamboo and Horsetail. Interesting, serious tubes. The tubes formed in Florida coral follow the correlate tubes, similar process. Gotta go here some day, a dream. www.indoagate.com/bamboo.html
