This is my first time creating a bead, for lack of a better word. My goal is to make a simple pendant out of it, run a leather chord through it and wear it just as it is. So far, its just a stone with a hole in it. I've still got some polishing work to do, as well as bevel the area where the hole is...I've never tried the beveling part (there's a term for it, slips my mind) so I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. Any suggestions are appreciated! This is the jade I found with a bunch of native gold and pyrite running through it. More to come.

I sure do like this idea. I've been thinking about doing a similar shape and a single drop pendant. I think this will look fantastic when you have it done. Please keep the pictures coming.

Thanks, fantastic5. If you get around to doing yours or have pictures of previous examples, I'd love to see them.

mr.mohs, yes that's it! Chamfer. My recall of the term and my knowledge of how to do it are about the same I guess.

Great idea and beautiful jade. Maybe you can try a diamond tip ball burr. I don't know what they are called but they look like a ball on a stick. Get one a little bigger than the hole and barely bring it down on top of the hole. You don't want it to go through- just round out the hole opening.

They make diamond burrs that are shaped like a cone also. It would grind the bevel but then you would have to come up with a way to polish it. A bamboo stick with grit or polish would probably work. Jim

rockjunquie & @wampidy, thanks for the tips. I'm going to try a combination of your ideas and get a diamond ball burr tip for the dremel for shaping the chamfer, then finding something akin to bamboo to polish it with diamond paste.
