This is an interesting specimen that was gifted from connrock when he and his wife visited our area last summer. Originally, this piece was coated in a layer of iron oxide that obscured the detail beneath. After a year or humming and hawing on whether I clean it, or leave it natural, I finally gave it the Iron Out dunk. It only took a 24 hour dunk to remove the oxide crust and the majority of the staining. WOW! So now I need to ID the specimen. Fortunately, I found photos of the exact rock on the Internet, that had a detailed (and believable) ID with it. This is a “pseudomorph of Limonite after Pyrite on Druzy Quartz on Missouri Lace Agate on Fossilized Algae”. Bet you can’t say that 10 times fast. It’s all there. Let’s break it down with some photos. Darryl. Very cool! I like long winded explanations but then that could have something to do with me being long winded by nature too *L*.....Mel
