WOW, what a monster! amazing thing. Is the last photo of the place it called home before you captured it? Looks like it might have been fun hauling its big fat body out of there! (did you use a cart or a mule?) I had no idea they got that large!

that's where it came from. There is a paved road just below. I didn't collect it. Jason Hinkle did in 2008.

That is just awesome! I can see that it's big, but how many pounds does it weigh? (Good thing it was uphill from a road, wouldn't want to hike that mother out!)
I saw it was found six years ago. By removing it from that hillside, he made the road/highway safer for travelers. Around here, if you were caught by CHP on that hillside, they'd write you up for being alongside the highway, lol.
In what state was it found?

"downtown" Ashwood is like 5 miles from Richardson's Ranch!
Seems like maybe a drive thru every road cut might be worthwhile in that neighborhood! I am gonna guess Tub Spring's Road. Just sayin'...

What sort of machine do you use to polish something that size? spiritstone: So whats the difference between that one and a angle grinder with a rubber backing plate, because it supply's a water flow. Thanks James.

spiritstone: So whats the difference between that one and a angle grinder with a rubber backing plate, because it supply's a water flow. Thanks James. It also turns at 3600 RPM instead of 12,000 RPM to avoid melting rubber impregnated pads spirit. metal angle grinders turn at 12,000. So motor speed is special too. Those grinders will give you a good soaking, best to have your young bikini clad neighbor lady run it whilst you watch
