Thanks! The Yellowstone is a special river and I really enjoyed that. I would love to browse among the debris falling from those high cutbank cliffs. What were the black animals? in that one picture of the green grass/swamp?

Awesome territory Michael. I see the game trails in the buffalo photo. Wife was there last year for the National dog specialty and hired a guy named Bob to take her and friends rock hunting. They stayed in Rapid City. Bob an old older fellow with maybe a rock shop in town.

The landscape of the badlands is something one should stand and take in. Beautiful Mike. Drive south east for an hr or so, and I'm standing in that incredible country. The downside, so many Rattlers to watch out for when hounding.

Might have to take off late next spring for a week in the N.D. Badlands. Look around and see what I can find.

I still have a hard time when my head is pressed up alongside a cliff trying to scurry from end to end beside a river. You never no whats hiding in those holes in the rocks sometimes. if it aint rattlers it could be a scorpion, spiders or ticks. LOL Mother natures finest defense critters.

Spiders and ticks don't bother me in the least! Just slap the spiders and pull the ticks off and continue on! I think the most ticks I have had on me at one time was around 17....Strip naked and start pulling them off...LMAO No scorpions in ND or Montana...

Ticks...just cant stand them, lol at your episode with them. Rattlers...ahem enough said on snakes. Scorpions...here is a little read up on them. Sun scorpions (Order Solifugae, in the Class Arachnida) are found in semi-arid and arid regions with dunes, eroded slopes, open sand or rocks. We have them in southern Alberta, usually in coulees and badlands, but often right in the cities of Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Dude your sun/wind scorpions ain't poo people.uleth.ca/~dan.johnson/htm/solpugids.htmThey are NOT true scorpions that have venom in a stinger. They have large chelicerae for crushing insect prey and yours are so small, who cares? Can't even pinch your skin. and your true scorpions (w/venom) are the size of a cricket! same web link as above Kills me when a serious rock hound will climb steep cliff faces or pick up uranium ores but a tiny spider or scorpion causes them to freeze up. spiritstone you made my day!

Scorpion is a scorpion in my world and thats all I need to know is what they look like. Not going to wait and see if its packing venom or not . Its easier to jump up and flail your arms until it comes off. LOL. or step on it. Happy to make your day!
