I am willing to order at least the minimum of 10 Kilos of Coral from Cheapagate ( Link here to his thread with pics: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/67534/sell-agatized-fossil-corral ) The material is $30 per kilo with free shipping from him to the U.S. However I would have to charge shipping of either a SFRB or MFRB to you. This material is in the rough, so I would need a little leeway in the weights you wanted. I would get as close as possible and would charge for the actual weight. IE: You commit for 2 kilos, but the piece(s) actually came to 2.4 Kilos, you would be charged for 2.4 Check out his pics in the link above and start a signup sheet in the replies with how much material you want, plus send me a PM. Please, no "I might want some, depending on quality" I will asses the quality when I receive the material, and if not up to par it will not be shipped to you. I'm sure the material is highly variable in color and pattern and I will have no, or very little ability to send specific colors/patterns. "course I get first dibs I would not want payment from you until the material arrived from Cheapagate, so I am the one taking the risk dealing with a new vendor Thanks Radio

1 kilo is just over 2.2 lbs. so that makes your sale at about $13.64 per lb. + shipping. In looking at cheeps photo with the truck it appears the pieces are all/mostly somewhat big. Wondering if he would be sending those big pieces or will it be a variety pack with enough small enough to fit in either a s or mfrb? Intriguing.

His message to me was that he would cut some into smaller pieces especially for the group buy should I choose go through with it.

Yeah, I'm with fish. I've cut more than a bit of that stuff and I like to hand pick my pieces. They tend to sometimes be vuggy or porous and the usual color is pretty bland unless heat treated. Plus the shapes are often tough to fit in the vice and can have a lot of waste around the edges, so I like to pick my rough shapes too. Reminder, the Gem Shop charges $10 per pound for this stuff and you'd be supporting an American business. Plus, they will try to hand pick out sizes to fit your saw so you don't have to break up large hunks.....Mel

Yea a lot of coral is "rotten" on the inside it may look good on the outside but when you start cutting it turns to junk. I bought a huge coral head from Indonesia a while back looked solid until about the 3rd cut and the middle was trash. I will be careful when buying now especially since I started collecting in here and cutting it and see how it can look.

Yeah, I like to buy hunks that are broken clear through so I can see what's on the inside solidity, color etc. Also, there are several types of coral from the area and the polyp patterns on some species are more interesting and better defined than on others. Nice to have it in hand and be able to pick the types with really high contrast big polyp designs. This is the kind I like to see when I cut.....Mel And this is the color I like but not so crazy about the polyps in this one.
