I finally got around to photographing some of the cuts I have been making from materials we have found around Arizona. Take a look, enjoy! This is from a chunk of material that seems to have been part of a thunderegg. Banded calcite, or Onyx if you insist. This is only the first picture I got of this Coral material. I absolutely love this Mushroom Japer/Rhyolite. Some pieces are much more "finished" than others which is why I list is as Jasper/Rhyolite. More of the Mushroom Jasper. Yet more of the Mushroom Jasper. An odd set of cuts from some orbicular jasper. Some great orbicular jasper we found out near Burro Creek. This is some awesome purplish agate from the Payson area. It doesn't show much in the way of banding, but does have some interesting patterns in it and frankly, looks like a little cosmos.

so neat! I love seeing what folks collect in their home turf. Hard to pick a favorite. The first one is fascinating, love all the pink. The mushroom jasper in rhyolite pictures are the first time I have seen slabs, very neat stuff. I think I like the Orb Rhyolite the best, the colors and patterns in it are so complex. Which is your favorite? The cosmos? Don't forget to show us what you do with your treasures. Those are all great finds!

snowmom: I think, of this material, the Mushroom Jasper/Rhyolite is my favorite. I did not expect it to be so colorful and complex prior to cutting. I like surprises. Once it cools down a bit around here, the wife an I should be able to spend a bit more time working the material on our machines. I can't wait.

I really like the look of the Mushroom Jasper. I've never seen that before. I especially like that you collected the material yourself!

Liking your finds...The 1st photo doesn't look like any thunderegg though....More of an agate or petwood....(nice piece though)..
