Don't see anything that looks metallic in the photo? Pretty neat rock- that will look great polished.

My guess is it is a metamorphic rock. Originally a red (feldspar) and black (hornblende or biotite) granite was squeezed and partially melted and fractured along a contact zone. The fractures were then later filled with white quartz, agate, or chalcedony.
If there is copper in it, you should see secondary minerals or oxides (green and blue) or metallic copper along the cut face.
But hen again, it's hard to tell from one photo.

Your specimen has similar colors to a manganese ore I found years ago. But like fundy said it's hard to tell from a picture.

I love that it seems to be brecciated(my favorite kind or rock) and infilled with that white matrix...I would love to see a slab of this polished. Whatcha gonna do with this rock?
