Does anyone have any plain flint. This is not for lapidary purposes. A member of our church is putting together these learning kits for our youth program. He needs some flint for a fire starting kit. If anyone has some please let me know. I imagine a few pounds would be plenty.
Thank you, Christopher

Christopher: I have an Amerind flint quarry on top of a hill I own. Sparks real well on my iron fire starters. Just let me know what size pieces you need and how many. I just use big flakes myself as the sharp edges make for good sparks just like the flints I use on my flintlock. Let me know and Pm me your addy and I'll go out and pick you up a bunch.....Mel
PS: Agate ( chalcedony) works just as well. I used to saw agate flints for my rifle and they are even more durable than English flint which is considered true flint and the best stuff to use. Chert, flint, chalcedony etc are all the same chemically so have the same ability to generate sparks.
