Found this rock in the same area as the red/orange/yellow rock and the bluish/clear chalcedony rock: after a couple slabs off it. Front yard specimen until I need to make something from it.

Pretty material, broseph82. Does most of it have fractures in it? Have you found any of the 'Bama Paint Rock agate? I think Rodney was taking folks out there to dig at one time?

Chalcedony is the start of paint rock agate, just without all the color (so im told). Who is Rodney? I do read a lot on this site, but I am horrible with names. I'd LOVE to go dig for this stuff if anyone else is reading this! I provide good company

Rodney Moore (digforcrytals.com) has info on his website. Not sure where he is diggin' right now. He operated the Hogg mine here in LaGrange a couple of years ago. Kristen Gum and her crew from the "Cash for Treasures" television show went to the Hogg when Rodney managed it. He's also well-known for Jackson Crossroads Amethyst in Georgia.

I can say we are rich in large plain grey chalcedony nodules here, I have seen some knee high or more. I pick up all I can, no idea what I'll do with them, some have a bit of reddish or yellow from mineral staining in the water, but when cut, they all look pretty much like shadow agates inside, cloudy, shadowy, greyish... I love looking at the outsides, usually they are lake smoothed and still have remains of the swirls on the outside. I see yours are still a bit rougher, probably closer to the original form? Or in vein form originally? now I have to look up "paint rock agate" haven't heard that term before. thanks for showing this to us.

The only thing is, his field trip part of the site hasnt been updated since 2009 and his paint rock agate hasnt been touched since 2012. I've come across his site in searches, but left disappointed when I saw his stuff hadnt been updated in years. I sent him an email though. Thanks Ginger and Snowmom

Thanks Ginger and Snowmom Your welcome, Jimi! broseph82, if you don't hear from him via email, please try his Facebook page. It's on his Dig for Crystals website, too. A forum buddy of mine may know how to contact him, so if you don't receive a reply, please let me know and I'll see if I can narrow it down so you can find out more about the location.
