Illinois Chert with Pyrite inclusions. About three months ago I posted pics of the hair like crystalline growths on these rocks. Best explanation I got was salts trapped in the rocks reacting with their surrounding environment. Some one suggested letting them go and see what happens. So I did just that. From July .... From October ....

Ken, if you had 100 of those rocks, placed in the same environment, would they all do that?
It's remarkable that you have two different hairs growing. I wonder what it will look like next summer??
