I've been wondering what would happen if I cut a slab into squares and then ran it through the tumbler. (1x1x1, or 1x1x0.5)I know I'd lose the corners and edges, and hopefully I would end up with somewhat regular stones when I was done. Has anyone tried this?

Now that is maybe the coolest da-mn thing I've ever seen come out of a tumbler.
What is the material, and where do I get it? I'm looking for really eye-catching colorful stuff like that.

Thanks for taking care of that for me Tami and John! ;D And, thanks for the kind words canard and sirRoxalot. I've been working a lot of OT to buy gas for that dang Hemi. Sure glad I don't live in England @ $9/gal. Later, Don

I bet you could move dozens of those cubes at a couple bucks a throw at any mineral show...

Stoneage Industries has mook cheaper than any place I have found to date, but they don't have any pics! John, did the mook you got from them have alot of color? Or was the mook from the Gem Shop prettier? I want to get some, but I don't want another 6 lb. chunk with very little color! Cookie, next time you go into see your New Best Friend, find out if he will cut that piece of mook he has into smaller pieces. At $2.00 a pound, I would like about 10 lbs. of it! If he will, I'll send ya' the $$ for the rocks and the shipping.

Yep, those stones are beautiful! I have been lusting after some mook with lots of color since donrob posted his pics not too long after I joined the forum. Everytime I read a post with the word "mook" in it, my mouth starts watering! I love the pink and purple colors. I would also like some with red in it. Guess if I order from the Gem Shop, I could call them and ask them to please, please, please send me some with lots of color! I am not ashamed to beg for color!

llana, the piece I purchased from them looks like it is nearly all purple, at least what I can see of it is. I specifically asked them for a piece with lots of purple. Kinda hope it has some yellow and white also. Won't know for a while though. I refuse to take it out back and whack it with a hammer. I'm going to wait until I find a nice lapidary saw for hubby to use. As soon as I figure out what the best type of saw to buy would be.

Some of the extra rock that came from the Montana Sapphire mines looks a little like mook agate, I will just have to tumble it to see. Tami
