I had an ETSY customer that kept hounding me for a bunch of pudding stone slabs. I tend to hold onto those for my personal use but after exchanging a few messages with the buyer I found out he was trying to have a custom urn built using local Michigan stones. It turns out he only lived 20 minutes away so he came over this weekend and picked out about a dozen nice slabs. I had assumed this was a project he was doing for someone that was already deceased but it turns out he is just planning ahead (hopefully way ahead) for his own use. He sent me this link to the company that he is using to have it built www.parkstonecustomurns.com/Kind of neat I guess. So I guess your last rock purchase could be an expensive one at $1,600. Chuck

Very interesting. Great idea for a rock lover who knows they want to be cremated when the time comes. Thanks for sharing! --Kathy

That is very special. Chuck, I think I would be honored to be a part of that project. Very cool.
When I was blowing glass, there was thing getting pretty popular where a loved one would have a small bit of ashes incorporated into a glass boro bead. I thought that was cool, too. This is coming from someone who has her parents ashes.
On a lighter note.... I told my kids that I wanted my ashes divided into 3 piles- one for each of them, so I could sit on the mantle and continue to nag them. LOL! JK. I do want to be cremated, though.

Neat idea I guess. But the upgrade option of having it electrified with smoke pellets for the chimney kinda is creeping me out.

Lee, I'm a junior high math teacher and therefore a fan of corny jokes. Thanks!

Chuck will your customer be likely to bring his puddingstone creation to show you when it is finished? I'd love to see a picture of that!

I have also been approached by someone looking to have a headstone made from pudding stone and thought that was a really cool idea but that one was out of my league. Chuck

hmm maybe a puddingstone boulder or slab with an engraved brass/bronze plaque? I kind of like that idea.

An interesting fact from their website "one pound of body weight equals one cubic inch of ashes". I'd always wondered what size of package would be required for my ashes. Lets see one pound times 24....OH never mind. Bob
