Howdy folks, My friend with the rockyard called me today to drop by and ID a couple of specimens. While I was there I scored three nice Rio Grandes of a size to fit my ten inch saw and my wife scored this petrified wood log for her flower garden. It's about 20 pounds or so and jet black inside. Not sure what kind of wood. This came from a gravel pile from the La Grange, TX quarry......Mel

I looked up Lagrange. It is 260 miles from my spot on Lake Falcon. I may go there this winter. It is a ranch next to Matt Dillon's hunting grounds. You should meet me there Mel. It is midway down the lake on a long peninsula. Making it difficult for the smugglers to cross there. DEA checked me about every day, well policed. I was allowed into the gravel pit last visit just down the road. 100 acres of the ranch was deep plowed a couple of years ago and the drought killed the replanting job. so exposure is fine. It is private and not hardly collected on.

Thanks for the invite James but I'm gong to go to the ranch my friends take care of soon as deer season is over to tutor the pebblepups further on agate hunting. I'm told it so untouched that the roads are lined with agate bearing gravel so you hardly have to walk away from the car and the agate I'm seeing from there so far is excellent.....Mel

That territory is covered. The variety is over whelming. Never dull or repetitive.

I know. The three small ones I found today are gorgeous. Going back again for a real hunt tomorrow afternoon after I finish a stupid ranch board meeting.......Mel

Mel..... I certainly appreciate that you are a busy man, but if you could ever find the time to narrate a pictorial tour of your wife's rock garden Museum of Western Rocks, I'm pretty sure the viewer results would be a lot of along with a very heavy dose of Probably also going to be a smattering of and surly more than one case of but that's just
