OK Ogden Utah is know for a very few things... Five Wives Vodka, being close to Salt Lake, Five Wives Vodka... well you get my point. What it should be know for is this GREAT rock shop named BRYSON'S ROCK SHOP, 326 Washington Blvd, 801-399-2838. Bryson's is not fancy or clean, heck it's far from even being sanitary, but that's how you tell Dave (the owner) knows what he is talking about. He has beautiful specimens in glass cabinets, raw, polished, cabs, and custom made jewelry. Dave has some AWESOME cabs of Clay Canyon Variscite, Variscite variscite, Turquoise of all shape and kinds, Wonderstone, Agates.... heck he has cab's of a lot of different stuff. The back of the shop is where all the raw stuff is (HEAVEN) bins & piles of raw, put on some gloves (so you don't get bit by the locals) and start digging and squirting (with your squirt bottle of water) to get the dirt, leaves, mud, spider webs and other stuff off. There are more treasures than the Queen has jewels, at least in a rock persons eyes O.O Give yourself a couple of hours to really dig around in the back, there in not much organization (is there ever when dealing with rocks). Above all put away any ego this is Ogden after all Stacy

Would like to have a look see,if online somewhere... He does sell on E-bay. I can go in today a take some pictures then post them. You can always call Dave and talk to him about what you might be interested in and he can tell you if he has it then send you pictures of it. Dave is a super cool guy, he is always willing to help someone locate rocks in the state, and he is always willing to learn something new.

If coming from SLC go North until the 12th street exit in Ogden. There you will exit and turn right (East towards the Mountains). Around the 4-5th traffic light you should be on Washington Blvd, there you will turn Left. You will now be heading North on Washington, you will drive approx 8-9 blocks. BRYSON'S ROCK SHOP will be on the right (east) side of the road. It is a small shop Arctic Circle is directly across the road from BRYSON'S ROCK SHOP. Make sure you give Annie a pet on her head

I've been there a couple of times in my travels a few moons ago as well. He's a neat guy and the place is loaded with goodies just waiting to be discovered. Think of it as the SLC extension of Catmandewes place...prices are reasonable and I believe he buys a lot of his stuff at estate sales...definitely worth a visit !!!

I reread the opening. Ogden is known for a number of things.
Promontory Point (Summit) The Golden Spike. Where Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads met. The UPRR Museum at 25th an Wall Ave was the main train station with underground subways connecting everything. It was once called The Gateway to The West. It was the largest railyard west of Omaha and the central hub for the entire Intermountain West and the Pacific Coast for over 130 yrs. Two years after the last spike was driven, gold was discovered at Sutter's Creek in 1849. 1972 AMTRAC killed Ogden until...
The 2004 Winter Olympics Slalom,Super Slalom, Downhill at Snow Basin 12 miles from downtown Ogden.
Weber State Univ. has a wonderful Geology Dept.
Winters too cold for me!
Hill Air Force Base. The first home base for the F16 Fighter Squadron.
Thiokol Chemical/ McDonald Douglas Test area where they perfected the rocket engines for the Mercury/Gemini Space Program and housed the A-bombs tested at Area 51 Proving Grounds in the 50's.
There's more I am just worn out.
