Howdy folks, Did a bit more sawing while I was cutting weeds yesterday. Both these are pieces I found on my hunt in the Eagle pass quarry rockpile. Thanks for looking......Mel A red on red jasper with a few pits: Filament moss agate in green, red, gold etc. For some reason, I really have a liking for these filament mosses. Very glassy material.

Those Rios are some hard little buggars. I think Mother Nature beat the soft stuff off of them. I found value in the 1-2 inch pebbles. some of the prettiest and hardest material. I had a blast casting them in concrete and sawing them in mass w/the 18 inch saw

Pre-formed preforms, I would like to see the fronts too. And maybe a litle more on how you cast them & cut them.

Pre-formed preforms, I would like to see the fronts too. And maybe a litle more on how you cast them & cut them. Rich Here ya go Rich. They were cast in Mapei sandless tile grout from Lowes. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157631927601357Have also chipped of big spalls of coral and cemented them together and sawed them to bet some crazy shapes. Like 4 inch round chips the average 1/2 inch thick, making long free form pre-forms. It sure beats cutting a slab at a time. I built a form that makes a block that fills the saw vice that cuts them into 6" X 9" slabs that really cranked some out. No one collects the little pebbles and they are some real jewels, and slice to darn near pre-form size. I just tumble the leftover concrete off. Concrete hard on saw oil so I used cheap kerosene and added 25% 10W-40 motor oil. the tumbler removed most of the stink too.

Wow, I love the yellow moss with the fortification included. No matter how many Rios I cut or see cut by others, I'm always stunned but the variety of colors and patterns. You've got some nice ones there James! Thanks for posting the pics....Mel
