I had the pleasure of working on two unique commission pieces for customers this month and wrote a short blog entry regarding them. One is about the Tiffany stone setting I posted earlier, and the other is about a custom fire agate carving and setting for a customer who had collected it some 15 years ago. Read about it here: www.dlcgems.com/blog/a-tale-of-two-stones

That setting for the fire agate is really cool. Nice job on both.

Both pieces are very nice and after reading how you came about doing them makes them even more special, not only for the customers but also for you! I don't have anything that is "special" for customers because I don't sell but I do have several little things here that are special to me.They all have meaning of a time, place or even a simple situation and it would be hard to part with any of them!
I know both the Tiffany Stone and Fire Agate pieces will have that special meaning to you customers as well! connrock

Don, Excellent work. The Fire agate looks like wet glass. 3,000,000 grit really pays off! Lynn

Thanks for all the great compliments!
Lynn, yeah that 3,000,000 grit is pretty sweet. I tried 30000000000000 grit once, but at that high of a polish the stone actually bends light around it and becomes invisible; so I backed it off a tad.

I took a metals class for jewelry once and was terrible at it. It gives me a lot of appreciation for works such as these though. Really nice work.
