The youngest was winter caretaker at one of the sunstone mines last winter, and this spring he and a friend who knew the location made a couple trips up to get Hart Mtn. Jasper. I had done a bunch of work building and rebuilding rock polishing equipment for him, and he feels obligated to repay me for at least the materials and parts. I insisted labor was free. He gave me a partial bucket of the stuff, and said use what I want and see what I can do with the rest. I've got 210 pieces ranging in size from 2.2gm to 1465gm, price is 20 cents per gm + whatever shipping runs. I have 2 scales, those and two calibration weights have been checked and approved by a jeweler and two precious metal buyers in town. I do have a PayPal account. The pieces range greatly in size and shape, quite a few are thin for slabbing, but will grind nicely, good for wrappers. Rather than try to post pics. and sizes of each individual piece, here's 6 representative pics. Anyone interested PM me with any questions or detailed descriptions of pieces. If anyone wants to speak personally, I'll be happy to give you my phone #. Real name is Larry Larson.

OK, I'm a long time collector and don't want to upset you or anything but with Hart Mountain Jasper as with stuff like Willow Creek, Bruneau, Morrissonite etc. Price is dependent on grade and pattern with the prize patterns from Hart Mountain being those with the orbs, high contrast colors, bands, waves etc. The $90 per pound ( 20 cents per gram-454 grams per pound) you are asking would be OK for a rare jasper of at least medium high quality with good cutting qualities, color and pattern. What you've pictured however is just pretty much jasper much like green and yellow jasper that can be found in many locations. There may be some awesome patterned/colored stuff in your mix but you should grade your material and provide individual pics of any high grade stuff you feel is appropriate for your price point. The $90 per pound price tag seems kind of unrealistic to me. Just my humble opinion.....Mel

Sorry that you feel that way, all I will say is that the mtl. sold well last summer to knowledgeable people at this price at the Madras, OR show [biggest in OR] and a couple weeks later at the Sisters, OR show. This was the price recommended. I have seen the whole lot, polished a sampler piece for the sales, and this isn't the dregs. I will neither accept or dispute your opinions. Larry

Gotta side with Mel on this one.from the pics you posted the material does not appear to be a high grade of hart mt.jasper.i have a piece in my collection that I payed $30/lb.and it looks like green orbicular brueno.i wish you the best on your endeavor.not trying to be a hater just want to see people charge a realistic price for "rocks" Dave

Interesting I think that if you did have a orbed piece like Mel stated most would not have a issue with that price but I always question any by the gram price all ways wondered why not just say you want 90 a pound? I have paid 20 a pound for blue mountain and got a chunk full of pits so it's always a gamble at the higher end stuff !!

Hi Larry, perhaps better images will quell the skeptics. I can't tell, but does any of it look like this: or this or even this

Good Hart Mountain is very very rare but man, a good example is right up there with a worldbeater Morrisonite. There is another even rarer form similar to Hart that is called Fryite Jssper. There are some fantastic patterns in that material to and you could not touch a good example at even $90 per pound......Mel

I do appreciate everyone's opinions, based this on what I saw sell at Madras and what I was told. Certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, or have anyone think I'm trying to pull a fast one.

I've paid over $2/gram for polished display pieces of Hart Mountain with good orbs and pattern. This material is extremely desirable and commands high prices but it needs to have orbs or good patterns otherwise it is just jasper.
