Since I got my big saw rebuild done, I been so busy slabbing that I haven't posted much. I have found that opening these gifts of nature is so dang fun it is crazy. Better than Christmas presents. Anyway, to appease my guilt over not contributing here are some pictures of a few of the nicer rocks I have recently cut. I collected these in Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, or Montana over the last 2 years. Wyoming agate. This one is very schizo with a lot going on: moss, breccia, and even one perfectly round spot. I would like to know how this one formed. It is very translucent in spots: This shot captures the true colors better: Another Wyoming red This one, I am about 90% sure is coprolite. Collected in McDermitt. VERY hard and fracture free (i.e. perfectly healed fractures). Neat patterns. An unusually colorful and beautiful piece of Gary Green (petrified bog) you can clearly see the layers of the bog or tree More red agate This bold stuff is not marble, but not quite agate either. Best I could determine was it started as limestone (I found crinoid and shell fragments), but then was silicified. It is quite hard and takes a fairly good shine. It should make some nice jewelry. This is a jasperized/agatized tree limb. Colorful, solid, and super hard stuff that takes a fantastic shine. I have a 30 lb piece I am trying to find a way to fit in the saw. Sorry for the poor photo quality on some - I was in a hurry and didn't use a tripod nor manually close down the aperture (for more depth of field). And I tried to shoot them all wet, but it was so dry out they kept drying out on me. Note: I did NOT boost the colors with photoshop (one of my pet peeves). Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Now if you excuse me, I have to go feed the saw.

The reds and yellow look a lot like rocks I find here in Wyoming. Very nice finds. Jim
