Found some black obsidian type rocks on side of road in KY. Hold a light up behind it and one glows a grey/black, one glows purple, and a couple have green colors. From another board I found when googling they said it can't be obsidian but slag. Slag is supposedly all black and this stuff isn't. We even have a black/green piece with white stripes in it. We are going back tomorrow to scoop up any and all we can.

Sure looks like slag glass to me. Slag can be all kinds of colors. Our local stuff here is blues and greens with swirly banding like in your photos.

We have slag here in seafoam green, grey, black, blue... none of ours is such nice looking as yours. Scoop it up and enjoy!

Cool stuff. Big bubble in first photo sure looks like slag bubble. I find green marbles on rail road tracks used some how in the train, I think the brakes.

I agree, slag. I have picked up similar looking pieces along railroad tracks. Don't do that any more. Found out that technically I was stealing, although I doubt the RR would miss any of their slag. LOL

Went back to the spot off the road and have big nice green, purple, gray, and black pieces. Some the size of my palm and thick.
Now will I be able to do anything with it like obsidian?

Weighed them out and we found 11lbs worth of the slag. No mine, no trails, just pulled off the road and by luck found it.
