Glennz01 Give it a try it is fun and (a workout for me anyways). It pretty cool to see what a person can create if they try and don't give up, if it doesn't turn out the first time. Never give up is one of my motto's for life and you will never know if you can do it if you don't try... Good luck Yeah, i'll do it some time... Slabbing up material is my largest priority (for lapidary) right now. I do have enough material for flint knapping though as its not good for much else.

It helps to use heat treated material if it's not obsidian. The flakes will come off longer and easier. You can purchase heat treated material or do it yourself. You tube has info. on the subject.

My local knapper never draws blood using leather.

Interesting to see the knapping thread, never done it myself. Great effort. This guy has some good camera views of what he's doing. Who knows, you might catch something different in his style of knapping to yours. If not, it's good to watch if you have never seen it done like me. Thanks, keep it up.

Spiritstone I have watched this video more than once (too many times to remember) and Billy does a great job with the camera that's why I have watched it so much, And also a lot of others.. youtube has lots of video's that are great, I am using it as a tool for learning. Practice does make perfect. But I haven't gotten to the perfect yet..
