Kind of outgrew the old camping setup. We got this old camper from some friends who were kind of needing money. It was pretty rough, so I fixed/patched it up to be usable. Definitely not a restoration but it didn't turn out too bad. Not much money in that old camper so I figure to hang on to it for a while yet. Works out pretty good when I head off hunting or fishing by myself for a couple of days or so. Kept watching for sale ads and checking stuff out. Found this pickup a couple of months ago. 1993 F250, 7.5L gas engine, 5-speed, 4.10 gears, 51,000 miles. Barely broke in. Brought this camper home last weekend. Hopefully, this rig will serve us well for quite a while. More room for a couple of people in there and a few more creature comforts. Thanks for looking. Russ

Yer gonna have to start holding a pinky up in the air while drinking your beer now! While the new may certainly serve you better, I just like the look of the older setup. Love that old stepside, and nice paint job on the trailer. New trailer looks roomy - and will hold more rocks. Guess I'd feel safer hauling a dual axle.

Both rides are nice....4.10 gears in the rear, great for low gear driving, but not highway....Could be a gas hog..

The Ford is a gas hog towing into the wind, for sure. Running empty it isn't too bad, but that truck won't be the one that runs errands or commutes. It's for towing, rockhounding, hunting. Thanks for the kind comments, everyone. I think it'll work out ok. Russ

My pinky finger always just sticks up in the air when I drink my beer because it's been broken too many times. That old '72 IH pickup is a workhorse for sure, sort of rare with the stepside long bed 3/4 ton. Have three guys claiming dibs on it if I ever decide to sell it. Thanks for the compliment on the paint job. Used real roof paint for the white, the rest is just stuff I had left over from other things. It's a 50 foot paint job at best. Russ

Congrats, Russ! Nice accommodations to suit your needs. Something to be said for having comfortable space to get in out of the weather for you and ten or twenty of your closest friends!
Quartzite or bust! I'm hoping we'll be able to make it in January.
