the idea that he might be held accountable for his behavior will scare him.

Breeding season almost over. Will start thinning the herd as the wildlife biologist requested so that over population does not force Blue Tongue and other diseases.
Death is clearly a part of life. And a healthy herd is not an over-populated herd.
Not harvesting is the cruelest approach. It is a slow painful death from diseases caused by over population.
The animals need more space. If you want to help them give up your home and buy land for them to live on.
They have over populated and use up the available food sources. So get your vegan butt busy and help them.
Welcome to the real world. Meanwhile we will take care of the deer. They are at record populations due to proper management practices.i.e. controlled harvest
PS Look at a coyote or a wolves teeth. Do you really think they are for vegetables ? can they have a right to survive ? by eating their required diet of meat.
People with this argument do me a big favor. They give me a quick prompt to stay away from them. But you accomplished your goal. You got your needed attention.

Regarding Jame's post, the cruelty shown by poor game management practices is unbelievable. California, where I used to live, is one of the worse Bambi Complex states and has very limited and stupid doe hunting policy. I used to hunt Modoc County with my pop and the region was a three point minimum area. The result was a massive overpopulation of does, spikes and forked horns. One year we met a local who had taken some winter pics of a spot called Mud Lake. The shores of the small lake had been one of the last places with feed that year and the entire shore was dead deer as far as you could see. All had slowly starved and then frozen. Intelligent hunting, including does and younger bucks, would have reduced the herd to a supportable size and less deer would have suffered a lingering and cruel demise. As a wildlife biologist myself, this sort of stupid policy pisses me off as do the folks who think by not hunting them, you do the wildlife a favor. Mankind has taken up most wildlife habitat and reduced the numbers of natural predators in many areas. It thus becomes man's responsibility to replace the job those predators did and control herd populations enough to insure an adequate food supply and healthy sustainable numbers. Hunting is not cruel or wasteful. Done correctly, it prevents cruelty and waste...Mel

For instance, South Carolina is so over run with deer that you are allowed to kill a deer of the proper sex every day for probably about 2 months.
They need more deer hunters. Alabama about the same. Georgia limit is 10, in specific counties that have over population(most of them). Mountain and sandy environments have
much smaller limits due to harsh habitat.
Granted they were almost killed off at one time, but not since herd management has been utilized.
And if you show up with a young deer like a 6 pointer it best be your first deer. There is a wide spread hunter opinion of letting these strong young bucks
remain for good breeding stock. And kill every genetic spike you see. It is one thing for the Wildlife officers to enforce rules, yet another to have hunters in agreement
about the rules. Most hunting clubs in this area have stiff fines for killing such animals, or that member may get banned.
Glad to hear a Californian with the same awareness.
Which leads me to my theory of human health as related to eating deer meat and football. ha-ha-ha
If Oregon would convince all of the mothers to not teach their kids to be vegan the SEC as we know it would be destroyed by the Ducks.
The baddest boys in football come from states that eat the most deer meat.
Any football team that is as good as Oregon and have the name 'Duck' should be feared.
If the citizens of Oregon rallied to prevent veganism, more of their young men would eat deer meat and they could defeat any team in the nation.
There is a low preponderance vegans in the south east....
and as my wife says, the world according to James ha-ha-ha

Bears common in everyday backyards now that hunting with dogs is outlawed here.
Mel the entire state says forkhorned or better unless in trophy regions as you describe. So spikes abound!
