Good hunt, who got the deer, you? Rich They were here 3 nights and got 7 deer. My freezer already full. The young fellow 2nd from the left took 4. But was upset about a huge buck that did not give him a shot. His Daddy on the far left had a large buck get by him too. I have not seen any large bucks this year, but the rut is still going. We all let small 6-8 point young bucks pass. Let them grow out for future hunts. It was windy most of their hunt; they would have done better w/out the wind.

No telling what apparatus they will cook with. The 3 on the left from Florida. Florida deer tiny, so they come to hunt the big ones.

Big ones? That looks like a baby hanging there compared to a lot of the Montana deer. What is the average field dressed weight? Jim

Congrads on the hunt..Nothing like fresh "backstraps"..... I had jazzed up the Florida hunters by UPSing some large cedar and privet tree sections that monster bucks had been rubbing. They have what we call 'rodent deer', the sand country grows the tiniest deer. I told that young one to leave his 12 gauge/buck shot in the truck and get his 30.06. He not listen. Next day he peppered a big doe thru the lungs and she ran over 400 yards, almost lost her. I told him these larger deer were tough. Last year I told him a good place to put his climber stand. He hunted it one evening and left it the next morning. i told him to go back to it and he insisted on going to another spot, so I asked if I could hunt his climber. You guessed right, I dropped his big buck from his climber-damn right I rubbed it in-relentlessly- Russell cocky, humbled afterward haha Even his mother called him from Florida and gave him hell. Nothing like satisfactiongratification. He still kicked our butts w/4 deer, he is an impressive hunter. He got last laugh...

Does ave. 140# and bucks 160-250#. We do shot the does as requested by the game management for herd control. We get to take 10 does each. Young does great for cooking whole, tender and sweet. Two of them shot 2 does in one morning. So they still filled coolers.

Well a 250 pounder is no baby for sure.
Straps or shoulder roast cooked with bacon strips over the top is some fine eatin. Best damn dirty rice on the planet that way too. Jim

Nice looking chunk of tenderness there, great story about the tree stand. Dat's funny Bill. We had a good time. The young guys were put on the best spots(since they use the climbing stands up to about 40 feet).
