No way this is volcanic. I think its jasper. Whatever may become of it. Keep us all posted. I hope you are able to identify it. If not...Snowmom may get to name it.

I think she did name it!! Wtf breccia. Thought that was your name for it. Somehow I just don't see Snowmom using WTF ever, unless she is abbreviating - Wow, That's Fabulous! Interesting rock, maybe wishing a bit too much for a meteoric ancestry.

My bad, Mel called it WTF Breccia.
I need to see if agate scratches it.

updated to add some tests in the original post.
TESTS:
agate does not scratch - not glass quartz does scratch

these have different patterns but seem to be the same jasper like material. note the first two have varying degrees of a green black and white. the bottom has green yellow and grey, which may be black underneath the wear and tear of ages.

the bottom one is very "granite-like". Deb needs a saw so we can see inside!

none of these is magnetic, the bottom one seems to be a breccia but some of the inclusions seem to be rounded, accretionary lapilli? conglomo-breccia? (working on the saw issue) maybe another photo would help, this one looks too green, probably due to the background cloth. will try that one again.

Occam says "remember the gabbro.... this one seems like granite."
You seem to WANT them to be breccia, so much so that you ignore the obvious and more common solutions.

if I don't see something that is obvious to you Shotgunner, it is probably because I am inexperienced and don't have the extensive knowledge base that you do. I appreciate the help and advice you have been giving. and I value your opinion. my apologies, and thank you.
