Nice Wonderstone! Wow that piece of coral had a LOT going on inside it! That came from a spot about 2 miles south of Hwy 31 bridge Keith. Not near as much variety down that way though.

nice trade all the way around....James you gonna heat treat some of the wonderstone and see what it dose?....John I think I put a sample in the oven before and got colors out of it. Do you know if it reacts to heat John ? I know that it is a very knappable material. Was surprised how a tap of the hammer chips it so easily. I believe this point is heated wonderstone. The colors look typical of the change I would expect. but do not know what the original stone looked like

James I haven't seen any heat treated ..But I would expect that it would be like flint heat treated...Maybe?...Super nice point there too..John The colors come from iron oxides John. They are sensitive to changing colors when heated. one guy says 625F, a bit hotter than the coral I cook. Well, grainy coral can be heated to 650-700F so they say. Will do a test piece on next load of coral. Not commonly knapped. Lot of questions about heating it in forums.

I loved the wonderstone I bought off ebay years ago, but this stuff is better! Great trade there. Been studying/comparing. This is fine stuff Toad. I thought so when Andy sent a small piece in a mixed batch trade we did before. He said he has access to a good collection spot. glad a twisted his arm to trade.

Great looking corrals on the rebound James - gracias. Just resurfaced from steelhead camp....we saw all kinds of weather from the river being solid ice in areas to 50 degrees. Awesome trip with good fishing. Now its family time for a few days.... Happy turkey day. Cheers.
