Well I needed something to clean off my prehnite crystals that can put water out at a high psi. I did not feel like buying a power washer and I found an equivalent. Costs me $57.60 shipped. I am not sure if they mailed it as I ordered it last night. So far good communication with them. I am hoping I will make my money up very fast as cleaned specimens sell easier than unclean (even if I marked the price down for that reason). The gun shoots water out at 1,650 PSI. It should be a lot nicer on my crystals than the pressure washer is as there is a low volume of water. Heres a Link.. I will update as new info comes. linkIf anyone wants prehnite crystals after I clean them feel free to pm me, I'll be pricing and storing the ones I can part with to sell at a Bazzar show I'm planning on attending next year. Update. The box will arrive this Monday although I probably won't be able to test it until tuesday or wednesday due to family issues.

That is the same as an airless paint sprayer. Have used those in industry to clean textiles. Great idea. It is a 60Hz solenoid piston pump design that can about remove skin on a small area. Same principle as a pressure washer except it uses solenoid to cycle a much smaller piston much faster instead of a motor/engine and bigger pistons on a pressure washer. Like you said, low volume. Cheap reliable easily rebuildable. Ingenious Glenn. We used to run trichlorethane thru them. And even at that they rarely gave problems. You can run solvents and detergents w/water in the attached bottle.

Yeah I seen this and I thought "same PSI as a pressure washer almost, cheap, probably not as much force as a pressure washer on the crystal due to lower volume, adjustable nozzle" so yeah, it made to much sense to get one because I was thinking originally of a pressure washer to clean crystals.
Hopefully i'll get my hands on it today. It does day that this can be used with solvents.. after all it is for cleaning textiles, although I would not try running anything acid based....
I have one crystal that is stained that i might need to put in vinegar for a while though.

Got it today... It is heavier than i expected.. It also came with an extra nozzle and a few parts that probably go bad with industrial every day use... my guess from the chemicals.
I'm hoping to use it sooner than munday but monday for sure

Don't forget to use eye protection and a heavy glove on the hand holding the rock. 1700psi stings and possibly cuts flesh.

Well I give the company an A+ on customer service.
They are sending another gun today and they are paying return postage for the defective gun.

The new gun came in today and works... I tested for 5 sec on some dirty pre polished rocks and crystal cluster (randomly spraying) and it seems like it will do a good job.
I have been told it is best to use water with dish soap (or equivalent) and it will work fine as a lubricant.
I will do some serious cleaning on wednesday or friday (thursday is lapidary day after college )

Well I had 30 min to spare so I started cleaning up some of my preterite that I had previously cleaned with a toothbrush and garden hose.
This far surpasses that method and is an equivalent to what the pressure washer can do... Although there is not enough water volume to completely remove all calcite like the pressure washer would which is good or bad depending on the calcite.

Well all my prehnite is now cleaned from my last trip from the summer. This gun will work good for getting the junk out of polished stone pits as well.

On a distantly related topic, I have a similar gun made by a different company. I use it to clean bits of shell and barnacles adhering to fossil shark teeth that were collected in brackish water. It really does a fantastic job, including cleaning down in cracks and crevices in the roots of the teeth. I have used it for a few other projects, and it really works well.

This is just the cheapest one that I heard good things about... there is one even cheaper but it is mostly plastic not brass.. I like the brass better .
