Found this is cartersville I believe. Saw a little red on outside is what made me pick it up thinking it may be carnelian. This is what it looks like inside. Any clues? Really solid stuff too. No cracks anywhere!

Could it be a flint? Rich Not sure. It's gray with little reddish/orangish spots. Thought it may be granite? Nonetheless its solid and hopefully it polished up well

Little redish orange spots could be garnet. Common in some granite.

A former member from Georgia sent me a lot of material fro the Pagan Mine in Georgia. Looks a lot like your material and it's mineralogically a fine grained quartzite. Comes in a number of colors including your color and a sort of blue tone....Mel

Garnets should be readily identifiable with a bit of magnification as discrete particles. I was going to guess quartzite even before Mel prompted support for that ID. Texturewise, quartzite always seems a bit rougher and duller than flint, chert or agate. Many times, I've picked up that reddish/pinkish rock thinking its going inside and upon cutting it open found it to only be surface iron oxidation. It will still polish, just not an agate or flint like shine. Tom

Like Mel said, looks like quartzite. We have fine quartzite.
