:DI want to give this agate to my sister Heather for Christmas....blue is her favorite color and this agate reminds of the ocean. Our late sister Shelly use to collect sea shells. I hope she will love this! Note that on the bottom of the agate it has some metallic orange spots that I'm pretty sure are copper mineral deposits.

It's a very cool piece, the yellow in the 2nd pic almost looks like flames in the rock.

Cool, wish I had a sister like you. Mine thinks I'm kidding when I ask for rocks for Christmas.

Those are nice pieces. Are you going to do anything to them or the stone by itself? Either way, beautiful.

Kelly
Your sister will love the blue Laker. It's a really cool piece. You're lucky to find one that is oher than red colored. Lakers are some of my favorite tumbling rocks. I like to use smaller lakers in place of the ceramic media that a lot of people use. They perform the same function and you end up with some nice small tumbled Lakers.
If I were to guess, I would say the orange/reddish spots are some kind of iron. If they weather green after awhile then it could be copper. Your tumbled pieces are looking good. It's cool to see someone near the source putting out finished stones. I have to buy all mine on e-bay
You should try some tin oxide polish for your agates. It's expensive but well worth the investment. You can re-use it by filtering through paper or multiple layers of cheesecloth.
I use a 4 step process. Rough in 60-90, fine in graded 220, pre-polish with graded 600 or .5 micron cerium oxide then tin oxide polish.
You tumbled stones are looking great. Did you ever find a saw?
Thanks for posting photos. Looking forward to seeing more.
