That's awesome Rich! I've got a very nice 5 inch and can't come close to what you got there from the Orion Nebula. No moons showing around Jupiter? Hope you will keep sharing your improved views with that new scope. Pretty soon you ought to get Saturn in the early morning sky, would love to see how that looks with your 8"! ETA: what did ya get and we need pictures of the scope too!

When the moons are visible, the disk of Jupiter is way over exposed, so we will have to make a composite image to get both. The view in the ocular is not a good as the photos, the camera captures a lot more detail in the galaxies & nebula. We also need to get to darker skys. Rich

I have a property on Lake George down in Florida. Have had 2 inquiries from astronomers. It is very dark being on the large L. George and in the Ocala National Forest. Apparently there is a glare map that gives glare intensity for astronomers. Looks like a fine scope to take such photos. Very nice.

I have never gotten anything as good as your nebula with my scopes. But maybe I need to hook up the camera. How long of exposure on those pics? Ain't nature and God's creations wonderful?

I never would have considered you could get images that good with an off the shelf rebel and a telescope. The big boys do surgery and remove the IR filter from the camera and take multiple images with various filters, that the whole thing and adjust "false" color. You are getting color right out of the box! That is amazing! Good on you.
