Hello all. Well, I went to Big Sur despite a minor rock slide that closed the highway for a short period of time. The weather was a bit rainy, but pleasantly comfortable for (-) low tide pickings. I tried 2 new areas without any luck. My last resort was Willow Creek where I usually find bits and bobs of average quality jade. This times was pretty much the same. The second picture is of something of which I would call nephrite, (feels dense and heavy, wont scratch with steel and has a waxy appearance prior to hand rubbing it with wet 1500 silicon carbide paper) Brecciated jade....is it possible? (color is a little off:the matrix is dark green and the inclusions are grayish green with an ever-so-slight hue of light blue) Any input would be appreciated. 
Update: It turns out that dinky "fingernail-sized blackish looking piece" is actually a shard of dark, translucent blue. It's very hard to show it in photographs. In the "shaded" photo, you can catch a slight glimpse of its color. (first piece for a junior collector...yay!)
