I would have to agree on that one with you. That would be my best guess.

Those images seem too yellow for variscite. Unless the images are biased to yellow, I'm voting no to variscite.
Chuck, how hard is it?

I tumbled it in my load of cabs last week and the groove was in prior to tumbling and did not get distorted. seems like pastel green in person and not so much yellow. Any other options i should look into? Chuck

I'd say lemon "chrysoprase" is a good guess but that's a marketing name for magnesite colored by nickel. Genuine chrysoprase is chalcedony colored by nickel. Chrysoprase is much harder than magnesite's 3.4 to 4.5. One test for magnesite is that rough will adhere slightly to the tongue.

Looks a bit like pet bog that Jean sent to me quit a while back. I think that is what she called it anyway but she would know better. I slabbed some of it so the name is gone. I don't think I have a photo of it but I just happen to know where some of it is. Jim

Thank you for the information. I did not know that and it's good to know. This is in reference to the lemon "chrysoprase"

Checked it out and what I have is a bit darker than what I thought it was. Jim

Yeah, I'd go with lemon chrysoprase. Your piece is much nicer than the crappy cab I cut but here is a pic of mine....Mel
