Was wondering if anyone has an ID for these rocks. Found in Illinois in an are that has a lot of limestone and dolomite. I did try searching online for an answer first. There is a glacial erratic here called an Omar. Color for these is wrong for an Omar but the weathered out depression fits. Hope one of you rock savants knows what these are. At any rate I think they are cool and have always called them mud bubbles. Domed side ... ![](http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t385/tkvancil1/IMG_1609_zps7ec1e9c4.jpg) Depression side ... ![](http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t385/tkvancil1/IMG_1612_zpsc392b188.jpg)

Those are pretty cool, tkvancil. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Could they possibly be ironstone concretions?

Glad to have been able to make a suggestion for you, tkvancil. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I had to check out Omars. Pretty cool, and I like your 'mud bubbles.' tandl, are paint pots another term used for "cup stones," anvil stones," "pitted cobbles" and "nutting stones" that are believed to be Native American artifacts/tools?
