After going on facebook and being ridiculed for calling a small pocket of druzy a geode...I am not sure what to call this. Would you call this a geode? I know it sounds like a dumb question,,,but these two guys on facebook argued that a geode is hollow all the way through the rock with crystal points (? ). I thought I could go to the experts here and get this matter cleared up and if you have a good example of a geode I'd like to see them .

At the risk of being ridiculed, I would also consider that one to be a small pocket of druzy, or some other crystal.
Geodes and thunder eggs tend to be spherical, or clusters of spheres because the gas bubbles they form in tend to be spherical, or clusters of spheres. If you Google search images of geodes and thunder eggs, most will be spheres that have been cracked, or cut in half.

ge·ode ˈjēōd/Submit noun a small cavity in rock lined with crystals or other mineral matter. a rock containing a cavity lined with crystals or other mineral matter.
So I think you have a geode

Geodes do tend to be roundish in these parts, illinois / Indiana. They can have crystals usually on the larger side or just they bubbly type of filling. The "shell" is mostly unattractive calcium something or other but then does definitely have the distinct insides. The rock you posted looks like and agate with a druzy pocket. Not the same thing at all although I can understand your confusion. For a geode think ugly egg with a surprise centered inside, instead of cool looking rock with a bonus inside randomly placed.
A Brazilian agate has the cool layers and sometimes a druzy pocket in the middle void. A druzy can also be cut out and made into a piece due to the uniform size and sparkle. Geodes would rarely be that small and uniform in crystal size, they'd look wonky on a pendant in my opinion. Take my advice and thoughts on the subject for what it's worth, free advice.

Thanks guys,
I won't ridicule anyone. Some searches I have done before on other rocks haven't been the best for me; I tried doing a search on shadow agates but it turned out that half were shadow agates the other half wasn't ...it ended up leaving me more frustrated.

Took me awhile to figure out that one myself? I do have a craptastic short vid of one on youtube if you would like to see, i could post it.

Yes I would love to see your video, Spiritstone. Please do. It aint the best for quality. If you look at the upper fortification lines, you can kinda see the parrallax effect with the shadows moving back and forth. I'm sure someone may have a much better vid then mine they can show you. Hope it helps some. I added in a couple still shots. You can notice it between the 2 pics somewhat.

Wow! that was beautiful . Thank you very, very, very much, Spirritstone! That was a great help to me. One time I went on ebay to buy some LSA shadows....well long story short it turned out that they weren't ...you would think that if you are selling something on ebay you would be very knowledgeable about your product especially since Ebay usually is more favorable to the buyer.

i say you could call it a agate geode,You could also call it a agate with drusy . they would be the same . here in Illinois geodes can be solid .then they maybe called agate geodes if there is any pockets. Some are completely solid with agate, then can be called agate . beings yours is a laker, your probably best going with laker with drusy . Here is a agate geode slab from illinois . nearly solid but for the small hollow in center . not crystals though , smooth mammilary chalcedony .

Thanks, Tandi.
I think you have the most logical explanation. I think some people are just too picky about how things are worded and some jerks out there on Facebook just wanted to make themselves look intelligent at my expense. Oh well now I know what correct terminology to use when posting pictures on facebook lol.
