Rolling mine but have made some errors .... Chipped up larger pieces when slurry over thickened with borax .... frosted larger pieces when volume got too low .... Looking better now, frosting gone, chips nearly ground out, some ready to move on. Funny I should be having issues with the rough grind. Most have issues with finishing steps, no? I would agree that most issues arise after stage one on obsidian. Hopefully yours go smoothly now though. Just an FYI I do not ever use any additive or thickeners in my rough grind. Obsidian is soft so it creates its own slurry pretty quick just from material removal in stage one. Chuck

The borax was an attempt to stop gas off which was actually coming from the broken glass being used as filler. Borax worked to stop gas off but when I opened the barrel to a chipped up mess I remembered this happening once before. Fool me once , fool me twice, and get a reminder ... Shouldn't happen again.

Mine are on their way too. They look good, but there's some good competition by the looks of it. No more jabs at Chuck, I learned my lesson there!

Jugglerguy Toad tkvancilDid you guys take a good photo of your top five rocks before sending them in? I was thinking we could have done an anonymous voting poll on here to see how that comes out if you guys have photos. Any thoughts? Chuck

I should add that the only thing harder then tumbling obsidian is photographing tumbled obsidian.

I was so excited about picking out my best rocks, I completely forgot to take pictures until the way home from the post office. My rejects look pretty good though. I could take a picture of five of those if you want.

I will leave it up to you guys on the poll idea. I just thought it would add to the fun since we already did the work. Chuck

I just put a small batch into final polish. Hopefully they will be done by Friday so I can get them into the mail. I haven't had a chance to work on my rocks lately and it seemed like I had soooo much time until August to get them done. Always the last minute for me. Good luck to all, Andrea

I shipped mine today and when I was filling out the form it only made sense to list the value as $250 right? Chuck
