Self collected Rio Grande pebbles. Can never tell what is on the inside until you have cut 10,000. Hard to read what is inside. Then ground(faceted ha) them on coarse diamond wheel Three weeks in 30/60, and the other 3 finish steps to the finish A few corals New type of yellow/jet black coral, Suwannee river. Add Jugglerguy's unakite marble and a piece of rhyolite. Love that unakite. Both ran w/the agate. Unakite slightly less shiny, rhyolite quite shiny Another of Rob's unakite

Mighty fine batch James...That first coral looks like it is smoldering inside ...John John, that was a knob that broke off a larger coral. It is stone cold white on the other side where the break is, shulda taken a photo of the other side. It was cooked. The red was yellow/brown before cooking. Exactly this color before, this one white on inside also, and much less skin tumbled off:

Nice variety, really like that Rio Grande. Looks like you dipped it all in glass, great polish.

Them two Rio's turned out real nice. I would of never imagined them two being that nice, even after the rough cut photo.

Rio Grandes 1) Go to Lake Falcon 2) Find gravel(it's everywhere) 3) Spray w/water 4) look for patterns and color 5) fill your bag This is a pile of standard road gravel at the gravel quarry, I drove over ten miles of this gravel to get to the quarry. Could get 10 pounds of fine agate in this one photo: In less than 2 minutes, collected these, using spray bottle From this pile of cleaned 2-3 inch road gravel on the right, the oversize cobbles are in the big pile to the left, never looked at those. Preferred collecting in the 10 mile long public gravel road(police and game warden had no problem with my collecting there) a tumbler's paradise. Cabber's too. Wood, moss, plume, banded, fossil silicifications, jaspers. For someone that had a ton of course grit and giant tumblers to remove the rough outer layer this place would be nirvana. Never had collected western materials. At about day 5 of an 11 day trip I found my groove. shipped back over a 1000 pounds(drove a Honda Civic, should have bought my truck)of fine agate. Dillon Darwin has been collecting this area for years. Here is some of just his plume pebbles www.flickr.com/photos/97769244@N00/sets/72157594418360500/

alright. im sold. when ya wanna meet there? next fall i can swing it. We need to go. Still perplexed by last visit(experience). Crazy mix of agates woods and jaspers. Land is flat, easy pickins. Fall better than summer ! Would be nice to put something over your tires to keep the thorns out of them.

Not as bad as 200 miles south but thorny nonetheless.
