Does anyone know if Spicer M still sells custom cabbing machine shafts? I tried PMing him here, but according to his profile he hasn't logged on since Dec 3. If he is, I'd like to have him make me one as the local machine shops are quoting me about 3 times his price, but I don't want to sit around wasting time if he no longer makes them.

What cabbing machines are in need of new shafts? Reason I ask, my landlord is a machinist and is looking for projects. He's been doing hi-end construction, but due to leg injury is looking to go back to machine work. I'll see him tomorrow and mention it. PM me if interested.

soska, in my case, I am building a DIY machine, so it's not a particular machine I need it for.

Mike called me the other day so he is still around. He winters in AZ and should be there now. If he calls back I'll ask him.

Need to take measurements. I'm modifying an old machine. I'll get back to you later today. But for now there's a fresh pot of coffee, and cookies fresh out of the oven.

I spoke w/ Dave, my landlord, and he was very interested. If you want him to quote ya for machine parts, PM me and I will provide his email address, and remove myself from being a middle man. I only want to help him get some biz, and y'all get the parts needed.

Phil- He's learning about our machines quickly, especially since I buy used and have more old machines than space. He's a machinist by trade, so turning shafts and fabbing out-of-production parts is right up his alley. I'll not post his email on here, but PM me and I'll give it to ya and you can strike up a conversation.

Sorry have not signed on for awhile. Wanderd why my ears have been burning. Now I know why. I can still make shafts but only in the summer time, between June and September. Reason is my lathe is in Oregon and I spend most of the year in Arizona. Glad to help if I can during that time. PM me in the spring. If I remember right CptDad made some shafts out of stainless? cpdad Kevin did make some shafts awhile back, don't know if he still has the time? I picked up a Wards Powr-Kraft (logan) lathe recently but I doubt I will get the chance to make it operational soon, too many irons on the fire.

Kinda sounds like you've got it covered, but... His CNC mill is down right now, but nothing wrong with the lathe. Just need to know what you want it made with, and GOOD dimensions. Too many times have made a part to customer's specs, only to find out their specs were wrong . Especially when parts are being shipped around the country.
