This was a crazy busy weekend but I had a custom order for a wrap so I squeezed in a couple extras while I had the tools out. psilomelan   stone canyon jasper   This is the custom wrap. The customer really liked the shiller/shimmer effect when this mahogany obsidian is moved around at different angles. I still might tarnish this one but I wanted the customer to see it bright first so they can make the decision.    Thanks for looking, Chuck |

Looks similar to some stuff I collected they call banded iron ...looks like wood in a way but shimmers !!

wonderful work, as usual. Love the custom wrap, that copper sets the obsidian's colors off perfectly!

Awesome job love the stones !! Looks similar to some stuff I collected they call banded iron ...looks like wood in a way but shimmers !! I know one thing they have in common. They are both really messy to grind. Psilomelane, erroneously, and uncommonly known as black hematite (but not related to true hematite, which is an iron ore), is a group name for hard black manganese oxides such as hollandite and romanechite. Psilomelane consists of hydrous manganese oxide with variable amounts of barium and potassium. |

Man... you do such nice cabs and wraps. A pleasure to view these each day.
I think I may have a owyhee with psilomelan mixed in? I was never able to figure out what it really is, just leaning towards psilomelan.
