Howdy folks, Suffering with a horrible bout of "cedar fever", allergy to salt cedar pollen, so I just sat around and ran the saw awhile yesterday. Cut more small stuff from the Rio gravel the kiddoes have been bringing by the house. Here are a few pics......Mel Can't quite figure this one out. Is it some kind of weird wood or some kind of Rio Grande poppy? I dunno know for sure. Closer look: Definitely wood but I have no idea what kind. Thought palm at first but don't think so. Anyone know, please inform me. Definitely palm: Closer look:

Sure hope you are feelin' better, Sabre52. Nice cuts! Sorry, but no answers for your id's, Mel. Kinda chuckled to myself since we usually ask you for id's.

interesting stuff. The first is very fine grained! will be watching this with interest. I find stuff off and on with similar patterns to the second rock ( silicate fossils, not very colorful though) and always thought it was stromatolite. Food for thought in this post. Hope somebody has the answers.
