This was a really good Christmas and almost all my gifts were Rock Hound related. As usual, Santa usually leaves a few specimens to add to my display shelf. The first one is a piece of Aragonite that Laura picked up the Parrsboro rock and mineral show this year. The vendor was selling this by the gram. That should have been a warning to run right there. Rather than run, a lesson was learned. AragoniteThe second one has flattened Fluorite crystals on a bed of dogtooth Calcite crystals and a few small spheres of Aragonite on the top side and a larger Calcite crystal on the bottom side from China. Fluorite, Aragonite, Calcite (top side)Fluorite, Aragonite, Calcite (bottom side) The third one is Cavansite on Stilbite with Calcite from the Wagholi Quarry, Pune, Maharashtra District, India. Cavansite, Stilbite, CalciteThe fourth on is Stilbite with a druze of Heulandite from Cap D’or, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Ironically, this piece was donated by Lance Hampel to the AE Seaman Museum where it didn’t quite make the cut. It was purchased through Walter Kellogg and now is only a few hours from its original location. Stilbite, HeulanditeThe fifth is a few crystals of Smokey Quartz on Microline feldspar from the Lovejoy Quarry in Albany, Carroll County, New Hampshire. Smokey Quartz, MicrolineThe last is Prehnite from the Lower New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey. Prehnite Darryl.

Superb specimens that Santa brought to you for Christmas, 150FromFundy! Love the cavansite blooms and stilbite, smoky quartz, and the aragonite. Glad that Santa brought the stilbite/heulandite to you, too!

Shotgunner - I self-collect wherever and whenever possible to gather my own specimens. My next preferred option is to trade, so I at least have some contact with the original collector. When it comes to the exotic stuff from India, China, Africa, etc. I look for deals on the internet as I don't see myself ever self-collecting in India, China, Africa, etc. As for the Cavansite, I already have two pieces, but this one really caught my eye.
gingerbrat - Last time I was out to Cap D'Or I was focussed on agate and jasper for cabbing. Next Spring warrants a re-visit in search of zeolite crusts and crystals. The stilbite/heulandite from Santa may have been collected a few decades ago.
