I'll play - It was a good year (if you can put the destruction of our country aside) and another year of adding rock tonnage to my collection. We have a lot of sink holes here in Florida, and hopefully, I'm not contributing too much to one opening up in my neighborhood. Limiting this to rocks acquired in 2014 was a great help. I have a folder here on my computer with what I buy each year and the costs (will be helpful down the road when my memory is totally shot!) where I save the pictures from where ever I buy the stuff - saves me from having to take pictures for an inventory. Probably added a good half a ton of quality rough, but that's for another thread someday. Here are just a few of my 2014 mineral additions. Maybe not my best from 2014, but stuff I already have pics of saved. Malachite on Chrysocolla Mashamba West Mine Congo Brown Calcite, Goethite - Mexico Septarian Sphere 4.5 inch Stone Canyon Jasper - one of MANY Adamite on Limonite Mina Ojuela Mine Mexico Lavic Jasper - well over 100 pounds in 2014 and the main reason I want a 40 lb tumbler Olivine / Peridot San Carlos, Arizona - recent interest and adding quite a bit to collection 33lb Dogtooth Calcite Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico Leopard Skin Jasper - 50-75 lbs of this quality in 2014 Calcite from Mexico - just found it interesting Hematite with quartz Cumbria England - this is one of my obsession minerals that I buy whenever I can find it Dogtooth Calcite with quartz -Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico Stony Creek Brecciated Jasper Darn, that was 13. Oh well, coulda been 113 or 513... consider yerselves lucky I'm quitting here. Don't have pics yet of anything bought at shows last year. Sorry if the pics are big, that's how I save them. I plan to doing an insurance inventory (pictures & values) sometime this winter, I'll post more pics then. Happy New Year to all and I hope 2015 is even better!

Wow! this is starting out awesome! 2014 was my first year rock hounding 'for real" and not just picking up pretty rocks, though I started out that way. Thanks to RTH members, so many generous and helpful members I can't name you all, but you know who you are! we hunted rocks together and named fossils, agates, jaspers, puddingstone and other conglomerates, breccias, granites, impactites, kimberlite, hunted for jade and so much more. Here is a link to all the photos on photobucket which I downloaded this past year. I couldn't decide on a favorite, I tell people when it comes to rocks and minerals I am probably promiscuous, I love them all! I have to say my mysterious "maybe jade" black rocks still have a special place in my heart. Thanks for a wonderful year of growing and learning RTH! s1353.photobucket.com/user/snowmom13/library/?sort=3&page=1

Well, I don't do many photos of rocks. My 2014 highlights were with people as much as rocks. Succor Creek trip. It was great to hang with Roy and Tony and to meet a bunch of new folks. And the scenery Roy's fun tumbling contest. Thanks royI finally started to learn tumbling, Elizabeth has always tumbled before. Still a ways to go... The coolest Morrisonite slab ever, for me anyway. Maybe in 2015 I'll decide how to do it justice... Fun with wood. The 2014 NW Rockhound Retreat. A truly interesting experience, getting out in the sun while taking HD antibiotics was a problem, But I got a little bit done in the silversmith class. I also got a little time to hang out with another RTHer. jerrysThe carving class. Pretty soon I'll be right up there with kkOk, maybe not... And my biggest project for 2014, and 2015. The shop building out back, so we can move out of the garage. It will have a photo area so maybe more pics when it's operational. Happy 2015!

2014 was a year of turmoil for me, four jobs and all that goes with having to start over and over... Few nice rocks to speak of. Here is a green black pink granitey sphere I finished after a long time. It was kidlets memory stone from her trip to the soccer national games I did spend some time building a coring press to expedite sphere making. I am set up now for softer materials, but am still dialing in for thinks harder than marble. Even glass is giving me fits. Cannot seem to get granite grade deep coring bits. Still need to pursue a couple of leads as money permits. Having some laser Alexandrite precision cut by rockncajun Ray was definitely a huge highlight. He also did some sapphires that I haven't imaged yet. In the summer there was an epic porkbutt and an incredible first effort at pastrami using tritip [with raspberry mustard] In the summer we did get the pleasure of touring northern and central Japan. Here are some coal carvings we discovered in a store on the island of Hokkaido. Shotgunner and bride with "Oni" in "Hell Valley" also on the island of Hokkaido But the biggest deal of the year was kidlet graduating high skrewl and going off to university Well, at least I got a coupla stone images in there. Hell Valley is volcanically active and indeed rich with agates and jaspers, some gorgeous, but the 1000# I saw all were 50# or greater in size; these used to anchor the "Oni" statue in Noboribetsu. I hope my post is considered appropriate. Thanks to my friends for a great year and also thanks for posting your images.
