Couldnt slab this agate up because of the cracks that were so abundant , so I decided to just slice it in half, polished it up and wola. Straight from the farms of Vlasic pickels. Makes a nice display piece even with the cracks "they add character" and I dont have to keep it in a jar.

Couple more I had precut this summer and just polishing them up now. To bad they are so hard to come by crack free.

I recognized it as Agate Creek material -- beautiful! Like you I wish it was more crack-free but the good part is you feel less guilty making cabs from cracked nodules than from top specimens.

Yes it is Agate creek material. I agree, have only a couple that have turned out without fractures. Just for display. I kept the other half of the pickled colored one to try and see if I can pull a cab out of it.

The last two resemble Lake Superior and Ian's agates. Beginning to think that color is from above the 46th.

All these places are not high altitude unless yours are. Those colors are not so common in southern areas as far as I know.

That idea wont work now. Have to find one of 1daves maps of the connected continents.

Definitely looks like a pickle slice and an onion, spiritstone. Very pretty, and love the Agate Creek!
