Obsidian and slag snowmom sent me And my own slag piece (the very first piece my wife and I found) And a piece of filler glass dry: And wet: jamesp I'm guessing I need to order a prepolish from the rockshed? This stuff was in polish for 5 days. I want it better! Polish stage I didn't have enough filler glass and bowl was only 1/2full. Def need some more soft media for slag and obsidian besides glass.

For glass and obsidian I did 500 1000 and then Rock Shed 1 micron polish. And used all small glass filler. Looks like the edges of the blue glass polished, but not the center flat area. Darn good tumble. Way to go. I think it is not good to have the barrel 1/2 full, not sure. And different glass takes different polishes.
You scored well, snowmom's stuff is fine

I also took out some slag that needs to be ground down and pit free and that took a nice bulk out of my media. I thought I was getting the 1000 grit in my grit pack, but maybe I'll just let my 500 go for more than a day each charge. The polish is actually really nice, but like I've read here still has a matte look in certain angles. Not too bad for my first real vibe tumble though. Thanks for your input! What's the difference between my AO polish I got and the 1 micron?

Those look good, Bro. I can't remember, did you rough them in a rotary, or did they go into the Lot-O from the beginning? I think the Lot-O can actually be damaged by not running it full, plus the action isn't as good.

The action was good when it was almost full, but when it came down to polishing and me pulling stuff out it def wasnt near as full as it was. Will have to have stuff ready for each stage sitting by. Off to a bar that's close to ask for beer bottles

If it was half full there should be problems. They are tuned for a given amount of rocks.

Congrats. Have fun with your new toy. My biggest piece of advice is to invest in some ceramic to keep your loads balanced through the whole process. There are times when I will tumble a handful of cabs with 3.5 pounds of ceramic.

Nice stuff, well done. I'm with Chuck get some ceramics. Very good filler for the vibe. I have some ceramic triangles from HF that I used in my rotary, but not enough for the vibe so I went to TRockshed and ordered a 5lb bag of small ceramic and a 5lb bag of pellets for polish. I thought I didnt have prepolish, but my 500grit IS prepolish.
