I upgraded my Canon D300 to a D1200. If you want to take your rock/jewelry photography to a new level, a DSLR is the way to go. (Along with light tent, lights, tripod, ... )
I moved the lens, so this is "body only". They sell on ebay for about $52. I also have a charger, 2nd battery, and 1GB memory card, and USB card reader. The bundle is about $75 value.
You can get a new Canon 18-55mm lens for about $100 and have a great camera with nice accessories.
I thought I would offer it here before I put it on ebay. I could send it MFRB, well padded, with a couple of rocks or slabs, for $60 shipping included.
